There used to be a detailed landscape beneath this painting. The painting was inspired by a photograph I had taken on the bus from Gratz to Salzburg while on my trip in Austria. On a random Sunday, I had this massive urge to paint, but I had no blank canvases to paint on, and the art store was already closed. Without even the slightest of hesitation, I began painting over the Austrian landscape. I wasn’t excited by the blue and green colours of the water and I wanted to paint something I could endlessly stare at. Some of the aqua tones peaking through are from the previous painting, but this was completely unplanned. I didn’t have a plan when painting this, and no specific colour palette in mind. However, my style of painting has lead me to develop this technique when creating artwork.
